Our Wild Roots
Wild Range Flower Farm is a small-scale experiment in what becomes possible when you build an environment centered on beauty and on the health of one of the planet's most important creatures. We grow seasonal flowers to help sustain our beautiful mountain valley.

THE MISSION
Growing beauty for our mountain valley

Hi, I’m Cass, the founder of Wild Range Flower Farm. I started this journey in 2025 during a season of unexpected change and reflection. I spent 25 years working in the outdoor industry and later in higher education as a professor. Having a small cut flower farm is my small way connecting two things I'm incredibly passionate about: science and connecting people with nature.
What began as a small backyard hobby in 2021 has slowly grown into something far more intentional. As I started researching the floral industry, I was stunned to learn that nearly 80% of flowers sold in the U.S. are imported, often grown with heavy pesticide use, and under largely unregulated conditions. Scientists are increasingly uncovering the effects of that pesticide use, not only on pollinators, but on human health as well (Toumi et al., 2021). While we know bees and other pollinators rely on flowering plants, there's also a growing body of research shows that flowers can meaningfully support human health and wellbeing as well (Zhang et al., 2023; Zhang et al., 2024).
This bidirectional relationship where human health depends on a healthy environment, and a healthy environment depends on healthy humans reflects an important aspect of our interconnectedness. Bees sit right at that intersection; a linchpin of environmental health, responsible for pollinating the vast majority of flowering plants on Earth. That's the idea behind Wild Range: a small-scale experiment in what becomes possible when you build an environment centered on beauty and the health of one of the planet's most important creatures, and the ripple effects that follow from it.
Wild Range Flower Farm was born out of a desire to help people reconnect with the land, the seasons, and each other. I used to tell my students that wild spaces have the power to humanize us. They invite us to slow down, pay attention, and become better stewards of the earth, of ourselves, and of our communities. There is so much to learn when we quiet the noise and observe the rhythms of nature. Whether it's watching a hummingbird hover over the flowers or seeing someone’s face light up when they receive a fresh bouquet, I’m reminded daily of the joy and meaning that can be cultivated with a little intention.
Sustainable Agriculture

Soil Health
We nurture our mountain valley earth using regenerative methods including the use of cover crops, diverse planting, and composting.
Pollinator Protection
As home to two hives, every flower on our farm is grown without chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers to ensure our bees and native mountain pollinators thrive.
Water Stewardship
We treat our mountain water as a finite resource, utilizing drip irrigation to provide our seasonal blooms exactly what they need while minimizing waste.

Stewardship
We view the soil as a living legacy. By avoiding synthetic chemicals and embracing organic rhythms, we ensure our mountain valley thrives for generations of pollinators and people alike.
Authenticity
Nature isn't manufactured. We celebrate the unique character of every stem, prioritizing the honest beauty of seasonal cycles over the artificial perfection of mass-market blooms.
Community
Our flowers are grown to be shared. We build local roots by supporting community supported agriculture and providing a tangible link between our neighbors and the land.
